Working with traditional databending and datamoshing techniques, Ca Tran manipulates the encoded data of original photographs rather than applying digital effects, letting images reconstruct themselves through controlled corruption.
Inspired by Carol Hanisch's The Personal Is Political, Hidden Signals is a series of five animated glitch artworks following a progression through latent, threshold, combust, blight, and residue. Together, the works trace how hidden tensions emerge, intensify, transform, and leave lasting traces.
Using recurring tree forms as both landscape and metaphor, the series reflects on cycles of pressure, collapse, and renewal, where personal emotions and experiences are inseparable from the larger systems that shape them. Through digital corruption, familiar landscapes become visual records of what lies beneath the surface.
