Created in 2015 during my undergraduate studies, this project continues to resonate in today’s digital landscape. With violent content now widely available through social media, games, and streaming platforms, the message remains as relevant as ever. This work reflects my early interest in socially responsible design and the lasting impact visual storytelling can have in shaping awareness and behaviour.
The series was photographed in a lecture theatre using a DSLR camera, with a single flashlight positioned at a distance to cast harsh shadows and amplify the emotional tension. The setup was intentionally minimal and controlled, creating a sense of rawness that mirrors the subject matter. The images are unedited and unretouched, preserving the natural expressions and textures of the scene. Simple, sans-serif typefaces were chosen to reflect the innocence and directness of childhood, contrasting sharply with the unsettling implications of each moment. This raw and honest approach reinforces the message that media exposure, much like the photos themselves, often goes unfiltered.
